I like the use of a trust for a car simply because it separates the asset (you and your property) from a liability (you in an accident-risk of loss). Grant the car into trust and have your Certificate of Title re-titled in the trust's name.

This is a different issue than whether or not one registers the car thus pledging it to the state. Not only do you have a right to travel, you are not required to have your right converted into a privilege and a fee extracted for it.

If one is going to travel in one's property then I suggest one bone up on said rights, travel with a bond and know how to do a habeas corpus.
