-My feeble opinion.-
Many Americans are aware of this or waking up to it. They are trying to enhance this with the Real ID act and the flopped immigration bill, both of witch require a national database. As everyone is probably aware, the immigration bill (I think it was H.R. 2413 and S.330) would have required every person working in the U.S. to be in a national database. Everyone would have to ask the Government for permission to work. It seems like after the national ID clause was removed from the immigration bill it became like a basket ball with no air in it - useless.
