It's Attorney-at-law. And that distinguishes it from some other (uncommon) forms such as attorney-in-fact.

An attorney is someone who represents another. The word is related, oddly enough, to tournament, where the contestants represent someone -- such as their town, their school, their country.

An attorney-at-law is a lawyer who, among other duties, presents pleadings for his client.

An attorney-in-fact is someone who is given "power of attorney" -- for example, in making health decisions or financial decisions for someone who cannot handle this burden for himself.
