Capitol Police Arrest Member of So-Called U.S. Constitutional Rangers
JEFFERSON CITY, March 15, 2006—Missouri Capitol Police Officers today arrested Denny R. Hardin, a self-proclaimed United States Constitutional Ranger for an outstanding warrant for fraud issued by the Kansas City Police Department. Capitol Police estimate 15-20 members of the group are in the Capitol today.

“While we do not think Denny Hardin or the United States Constitutional Rangers pose a physical threat to Missouri legislators, citizens, or the capitol grounds, the group has been linked to a kind of paper terrorism,” Chief Todd Hurt said.

In February, the group sent letters to select senators, Gov. Blunt and Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder demanding their presence in the so-called “court of record of the tribunal” of the U.S. Constitutional Rangers on this date, March 15. Hardin was apprehended when he demanded that Capitol Police call the sheriff to have Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder arrested for failure to comply with his subpoena. A subsequent warrant check found Hardin had an outstanding warrant issued by the Kansas City Police Department. Hardin was taken into custody, processed and released from the Cole County Jail.
