To lie about a liar is futile. To steal from a thief to prove they stole something is more dangerous than righteous. Keep "clean hands" and attack. It would be very difficult for one to attack you back if you have stayed in honor the whole time.

I agree with you Jerseee but one could easily say that they changed their number. People change their phone numbers all the time. Besides, whether or not someone lies about giving a bill collector their telephone number is a nonissue since, under the FDCPA, a collector may communicate with an alleged debtor through other means (i.e. mail, email, fax). There is no requirement stating that a collector MUST have an alleged debtor's telephone number.
