I was thinking some along the lines of the special plates we have in the defacto system of Georgia. If one went to a certain college that logo is on the far left, words and numbers on the right. Same if you have a wildlife tag, etc.
On the left I would do a family crest or a personal seal of some kind, stating this is my private property, of which I cannot be deprived without compensation or due process of law. I have the unalienable right to use this property to travel freely so long as I dont interfere with anyone else's rights.
The private plate is for my personal use and to identify this car to other persons or foreign jurisdictions. Who knows there may be more than one white BMW on the road or more than one red Toyota SUV, even the same year and model as mine...;)
