Back on point...
...I have an extensive library and have several books from the 1920's and 1930's on the Reconstruction period, as well as reviews authors/points.
I found a students 'History of the World' which was purportedly written in the mid 1990's but 'copyright' circa 2000, signed "Attorney Douglas Palaschak".
He sites several pages in Mathew Josephson's THE ROBBER BARONS and further recommended J A Hobson, THE EVOLUTION of MODERN CAPITALISM for understanding the technics used by Vanderbilt, Rockefeller etal.
I have the 'Outline' in a notebook, but the file didn't survive a hard drive crash.......I'm sure a goggle [I personally use SCROOGLE.ORG] of Attorney Douglas Palaschak will be well worth your while.
I agree with w/DM: older is better. Additionally, Charles ****ens and J S Mill [an anachronistic pair] wrote contemporary criticisms of Lincoln's war and the aftermath.
