This is not a majic bullet, but I have tried this once with the IRS 30 day letter 2 months ago - Do the Math. If they send me something else, I'll just send it back. They are fiction. Do not recognize fiction anymore

If you encase it in another envelope, and send it back, that is the same thing as receiving it. Do you really think IRS is that dumb to think it was not you who put the envelope in another envelope? Come on, Weis.

I would send it back with my name crossed off in black majic marker with "RETURN TO SENDER" on it. That's all I would do.

I agree with PANICPASS, with one exception. If you are going to encase it in another envelope, not only do you not want to put a return adress on it, but you also do not want to put your name or address on the cover letter. What I have done in the past is just simply print: Found this on the sidewalk and thought it was something important so I am returning to you. Have a nice day. No signature or anything else. They can presume and assume all they want about who returned it.
