Land Patents-Again
My cousin and I went to the court house and went to the office of records and spent half a day looking through big books from 1836 on.& We also took our family history to get the names of relatives right.& We have warranty deeds for all the land that we are wanting to get patents on, and we did find some entries that our great-grandfather had deed to some land.& However the land descriptions didn't match.& This appeared to be land right next to the land we are trying to get the patents for.& WE looked into the big books all the way up to where the land was deeded to her father and my mother and another aunt.& But we couldn't find where the land was ever deeded to our grandfather (who deeded the land to our parents).& Is there anyway to do a cross reference on the land by the description of the land and trace the last patent issued on that piece of land?& I know everybody is tired of hearing about land patents, but we are kind of stumped and aren't sure which way to go now.& We have one of thopse big amps that shows all the land that originally belonged to our grea-great grandfather.& The only land that we could find deeded was land that was deeded to one of our grandfathers brothers.& And yet it was our grandfather that deeded the land to that brother.
I'll quit rambling.& Anyone have any ideas?& I was wondering if you contacted the BLM and gave them a description of the land, they could tell you the last land patent pulled forward, by who and the number.& Anybody know?& Ice, Jersee, James, Sui Juris, Jim-any ideas?& (I know we all depend on you guys so much- but at least you know a lot of people are remembering you in their prayers.)
Thanks,
Wirlwind
