My sense of humor does zero in on one particular advantage to being born too "blemished" to be welcomed into their "temple" ...
the blemished would not be chosen victims for the blood sacrifice rituals! Whew! :grin:
Obviously, anyone who wastes the lives of the most perfect creatures (and/or children or young men... or virgins, etc) has participated in a sort of counter-evolution, by allowing the imperfect to live and procreate, while taking the lives of the most unblemished (presumably before they could reproduce themselves, since virgins are always preferred sacrifices).
I can well imagine being born "too perfect" in appearance, and upon realizing my possible fate, running around the village screaming, "HELP!!!
Screw me! Break my leg! #$%^@! me up
NOW!!!"
