I saw where David Merrill had done an approbation on the Treaty of Paris.

I need to know the full use of the word "Approbation."

For instance: If one has a Family Bible with their true (Christian/Given) name in it, and they get their parents to "Approbate/Approve" the same, stating that the record is true and complete, and of paramount authority against all other records, and then that is recorded at the Clerk's office, that would pretty well seal the deal on what one's name is, right?
