Dear Henry, My passport was originally issued, and continues to be issued by the Secretary of State of the United States of America. My passport is titled on its face PASSPORT United States of America. As I remember, I did not even have to provied a social security number when I first received it. I paid a fee to the United States of America for the costs involved, I still do.
Perhaps you never travel abroad to countries which require a valid home, national passport, sometimes in combination with a visa issued by the host country. I travel often to those countries.
You offer the mystical admonition...."unless you know what you are doing...", but you offer no specific remedies. What specifically do you mean, and what are your solutions?
I have never been contacted, since 1973, by any officer of State or any other governmetal agency of the United States of America or the United States in any of its guises, whatever they are; to discuss any of my political or civic opinions on any subject, even travel.
Your statements seem to me to be nothing but misplaced puffery.
