Internal Revenue Manual
5.19.1.3.3 (12-15-2002)
Tax Liability Determined

Reminder:

The IRS Mission — Provide America's taxpayers top quality service by helping them understand and meet their tax responsibilities and by applying the tax law with integrity and fairness to all.
[underline in original]

Mmmm. Applying the tax LAW. Just one "law," eh? And agents point to thousands of pages of "regulations."

Isn't there a maxim something along the lines of that which is similar is not the same? So are we talking "law," "laws," or regulations?

Someone once desribed some people as being educated beyond their intelligence. Never more true than when applied to the legal profession.&
