This ploy will only make things worse.
The traffic ticket requires you to show up in court on the date specified. Ditto for a summons, continuance, court order, or similar document. On the date specified.
Going to the courthouse to talk to the clerk on any other date is just loitering in a public place.
Not showing up on the date specified in the legal document (ticket, etc.) may result in a default judgment against you, a warrant for your arrest, etc. Nothing pleasant.
