A few more days and the rubbery spores have merged into a cover over the tea. This 'pancake' mushroom will now grow thicker and thicker until it splits laterally into a lower pancake and upper one.
Then I can take the new pancake and start a new jar of kombucha. After a while I will regulate how many jars will provide the kombucha I wish to drink. A culture produces kombucha tea in about 3-4 weeks.
