My experience and suggestion

It has been quite some time since I have read the forums view on signatures and I have seen some split between members on the STRAWMAN issue, however…

My experience over a year ago with renewing a driver’s license in California was relatively uneventful. I even used a red pen to sign my name. I signed my name:

ALL RIGHTS RESERVED
By Signature, Agent

Looking at my paperwork and pointing to NON RESIDENT ALIEN one clerk asked me “Is this you?” I said affirming “My name is Non Resident Alien” (which of course sounds the same) and that satisfied her [sounds like court]. Just before they took my picture I signed one of those blank electronic note pads. The clerk viewing the signature in her monitor asked what it said. I told her “All rights reserved, By my authorizing signature, Agent” and added that’s how I sign everything. She took my picture for the license. I requested and received a copy of my application before I left. Admittedly it’s not “certified” or anything and it is just black and white. You can’t really make out the signature on the license I received in the mail. Is an electronic signature really any signature at all?

Of course maybe it would have been a different story if I signed it Without Prejudice.

Everyone here has probably had enough experience to know that waiting on a government response for the law saying you “have to” such-n-such – well, we will all be too old to drive by then, if they ever respond. I personally am not familiar with novation, but I am personally familiar with Akira’s paperwork and results (see Misdemeanor Case Dismissed). Based on my experience, if Akira agrees with HenryBowman that’s good enough for me to check out novation.
