Another issue is stopping radoactive iodine from reaching the thyroid. Products that come to mind that are quite inexpensive (around $9 a box):

1. Iostat.
2. Thyroshield (flavoured for kids).
3. Potassium iodide is also added to Flintstone vitamins. (See the faq on the thyroshield page).

The purpose of these: to load your thyroid up with non-radiactive idonine so that radiocative iodine in the air or other sources doesnt find its way to your thyroid and instead asses out of the body.
