I've also experienced this, and what I did was to date it when I received it, with the reply/post date within 72 hours from that, and it's seemed to work fine, unless of course they've already got judgement.
Regardless of what Judge Roy Bean says, I've managed to get myself out of $4000 "debt", a friend out of $37,000 "debt", one guy out of court for a drunk and disorderly charge, and a traffic ticket or two..so I have to say the proof of claim system does work.
If he lets me, I'll post the statement from the bank that shows his balance as zero and account closed, when it was originally more than -$37,000k.
