About 5 years ago coming from Canada (Windsor) to Detroit I had to pass through US customs. The officer asked: "Country?" to which I replied "Iowa". He gives me a sharp look and said "I thought Iowa was a state." My response was "I believe you are mistaken" upon which I got waved on through.
