Where is his help?
They say the IRS is just trying to make an example out of Wesley Snipes, and to use the whip (fear) to get the rest of the sheep back into line. Where are all the WE THE PEOPLE groups, the Freedom to facism groups, all the people who really know the truth about the law and the IRC. Why don't they use this case to make an example out of the gov/fed/irs system. WHERE IS HIS HELP????

Don't you feel this case, being in the media as it is, is bigger than just Wesley Snipes?

Yeah and I think the media will play out the fact that Wesley is claiming he got bad legal advice from some con artist.

Wesley Snipes Comments
Jan 29, 2008
OCALA, FL
Wesley Snipes has made his first public comments since his tax evasion trial began.
He says he has "always been paying" his taxes and trying to comply with federal tax rules.
But the actor claims the problem has been with the IRS, not with him. His attorneys have claimed Snipes tried to get the IRS to clarify his claim that he isn't liable to pay income taxes, but didn't get a response.
Snipes and two co-defendants are charged with seeking millions of dollars in refunds for taxes they'd already paid. Snipes is also accused of failing to file returns for several years straight.
If convicted, he could get up to 16 years in prison if convicted on all counts, although sentences that long are unusual.
Monday, the defense in the case rested without calling a single witness.

Snipes' Defense Rests in Tax Fraud Trial
Quote:
OCALA, Fla. (AP) — The defense in the tax fraud and conspiracy trial of Wesley Snipes rested Monday.
Snipes, Eddie Ray Kahn and Douglas P. Rosile were named in an eight-count indictment. Snipes and the co-defendants allegedly stopped filing his federal tax returns in 2000, demanded some $11 million in refunds on taxes previously paid and tried to settle other U.S. Treasury debts with fake checks.
All three were charged tax fraud and conspiracy, while Snipes faced six additional charges of willful failure to file a return from 1999 to 2004. The 45-year-old actor, star of the "Blade" films, faces a potential sentence of 16 years in prison, while Kahn and Rosile could get 10. However, sentences that long are extremely rare in these cases.
"We chose not to call witnesses because there was no need to. The government prosecutors have put on a case that simply does not come close to meeting the standard of its burden of proof," Snipes' attorney Daniel Meachum said in a statement.
The trial, which had been expected to last a month, opened Jan. 14. The prosecution rested Friday.
"It was obvious after we went over the evidence the government presented that we could move on to closing arguments immediately and get a just acquittal for Wesley on all counts listed in the indictment," Meachum said.
Snipes' attorneys said he was the victim of unscrupulous accountants and sincerely believed he didn't have to pay taxes.

Closing arguments were scheduled Tuesday.

Snipes fate now in hands of jury
By: Preston Rudie
Ocala, Florida – A 12 member jury has been deliberating since 9 this morning in the tax fraud case of Hollywood film star Wesley Snipes. Authorities say the actor failed to pay federal taxes between 1999 and 2004 on income totaling $42-million.
Snipes legal team did not call any witnesses during the more than two-week long trial, instead telling jurors the prosecution failed to prove the Orlando native did any wrong. In fact Snipes lawyers say the 45-year old repeatedly tried to meet with IRS officials to discuss his situation, but was never granted a meeting.
Authorities also say Snipes filed for more than $11-million in false tax returns.
Two other men are standing trial with Snipes; Eddie Ray Kahn and Douglas Rosile.
If convicted on all the charges filed against him, Snipes could be sentenced to 16 years in prison.
Jury selection for the Snipes case began back on January 14th in federal court.
