Student loans

Have not been here in a long time... hello

So i'm back, and now i'm dealing with student loans that are almost 17 years old...

They sent me the standard BS letter saying i owed this or that, so i asked for the original note contaning my signaturefor my verification, well they sent me a copy i could not even read. But i did read that there is no signature on this copy of the prom note, from the loan official at the original bank. So my question is... is this note valid? i thought both parties had to sign the note showing that both parties ageed to the terms and conditions of the note... any advice?

Student loans are like back taxes, they will collect. I'm thinking at 17 years, is there not a statute of limmitations for debt where you are? Some states 3 years, some 8 years, I'd look into that for sure!

they won't collect easily, this is federal so state law is meaningless.

Never the less, they will collect. They have unlimmited funds, and tons of people to take over when you wear one out.

If you did in fact borrow the money, don't you feel some obligation to pay it back? I did.

Yep!! No statue of limitation on student loan, however, you can stall for collection for a long time until you find the solution to it.

I was not sure on that. Looks like a person better just pay it, especially if you borrowed it and went to school.

Yeah, I understand that but what about if you don't have the money at the present time. What then. What are you going to do?

I understand that Charlesa6, and if one were reasonable with these people, I'm sure they would do what they could to help you. It's not like they demand $5000/month payments, and if you miss one payment, they come and take your birthday away.

This is gone on for what? 17 years? Thats just plain and simple neglect. If you can't find a job in the USA in 17 years, you are doing something very wrong.

my my my things have changed here, now the world of suijuris equals everything is wonderful and the government is our god and they never make mistakes? your damn right, if i see a problem with something i'm not going to sit on my ass and say oh thats the way things are our government never screws up... 3rd perhaps you have not had the joy of dealing with these people, they are worse than any debt collector i've ran across

4th nd , you kinda sound... wimpy, oh, they are going to get you what ever you do, better do as your told... how do you live like that? i bet you sleep with your night stand light on cause your afraid the boogie man might get you...

You ARE right! Dont' pay it, so it can be shifted to those of us who work and pay. That fair!

YOU BORROWED THE MONEY! It is nobodies fault but YOURS! If they made a mistake, what actions did you take to correct it? Probably like most who sit around pissing and moaning about it, not a damn thing! Always the "evil governments" fault. Thats a bunch of Crap! I borrowed and I paid, as do most in good standing.
