Letter's from Debt Collector

Links Updated 04/17/2008
Greetings to all, you might find this useful I don't know.
I would like you're input on this.

First letter from collection agency..............( I re-did links hopefully they work better, Acadian)

http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/0/1/8...94521958_o.jpg

Well, I didn't respond to this letter...so they sent me another...
look @ the date, some time has passed, I thought I was rid of them...

http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/0/1/8...94522369_o.jpg

Interesting they want to give me a break, and lower the amount, how nice of them.
So, I sent this letter...

http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/0/1/8...94521082_o.jpg

And today I received this letter from them...

http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/0/1/8...94523827_o.jpg

Now, I don't know about you,
but those zeros make it look like I owe nothing, what do you think?
And if the balance is zero, there must be no dispute?
So I don't need to send them anything....?
Anyway what do you think?
I was going to send another letter similar to the other.
Giving a little more time and when that time was up and they hadn't provided me with what I had asked then they were in default and that the matter is closed... That was before I received this last letter. Now I don't know, should I send them a thank you for they're timely attention to the matter... LOL!

Acadian
P.S. the letter I sent was letter #5 and I modified it a little.

Cool Beans Acadian! You sent a very nice (and nicely worded) debt validation letter there. Because of the FDCPA they had to respond to this with something and cease all collection efforts for 30 days while they investigate..normally the collector will eventually get scared of debtors like this and drop any further collection efforts...but sometimes sell the debt to another 'holder in due course' (love that!!!)

The 0.00 balance on the last letter and !payment coupon! is just hilarious and probably legally binding. Their collection software hosed them there pretty badly. I also like how you accepted their 'discount' of the amount due in their other dunning letter - Too funny man! Great letters..these are worded well enough I think they would scare a lawyer.

You might like the folks over at www.creditboards.com - and I am sure they would like you too! Please post these letters there!

The third letter from debt collector says this:

Quote:
WE have received your dispute but we are unable to investigate at this time.
You have provided insufficient information to substantiate your claim.
We will complete our investigation within 30 days of receipt of the following information...

It appears that they are only going to investigate once they receive the information they have asked for.

Well I'm not sending anything because I have no dispute with them.

What I find interesting is they claim I have a dispute.
I had no dispute, they sent me the collection letter first. I would have paid in full. I was only rebutting their presumptions that there might be some sort of relationship between us.

And my offer to pay shows I had no dispute, or why would I offer to pay?

I believe the same priciples used in my letter to the creditor, can be used in other areas.

I hope someone else trys this, I would like to see their results.

Peace
Acadian

I tried that link Rogerdoger5 and it didn't work for me.
Might be my computer, I don't know, but I did try to check out that site.

Now I want to know, what is on that site?...LOL

It seems to me you need to follow up on your own request for the original instrument. You have agreed to pay upon proof of claim (original instrument). They are requesting info (it is only a request). I would follow up on your request of proof of claim (original instrument) with specified date (your terms) otherwise matter is deemed through tacit consent null and void.

The last link you provided has good letter format for such a response.

My opinion only.
