R4C with credit card?

I have gone through the VOD process with CITI and they continue to send "statements" even though they would not verify the alleged account. Are not these statements presentments? Can't they be Refused for Cause?

You can refuse for cause to buy time; however they will come back again with the same issue. Regardless after six months they will charge off the account as a bad debt, and sell it to Attorney/debt collectors to collect the debt.

I was thinking about the whole 3rd party debt collector thing . . . is it not easier to get rid of them than the OC? As far as an attorney goes, would he be in the employ of the OC or is he a 3rd party collector himself? Does he even let you know this?

Truthfully, right now I do not particulalry care about my credit report per se, although I will try to clean that up eventually, because I do not want to play their game anymore now that I understand better what they are actually doing. My only real concern with my credit rating is that it seems that "big brother" is using this info. to rate passnegers on airplanes, etc. . .

Sure, the 3rd party debt collectors are more easier to get rid off anytime. As long as you repond to their presentment in timely fashion, which mean within 30 days you will do just fine.
I wouldn't worry much about BB using your credit rating as info, as long as you don't have anything to hide in the plane. Who cares?

Outside of monthly "statements" that they continue to send me, I have had no other communication from them to me since a letter from them dated October 11, 2006. I think that it has already been 6 mo. now. Am I out of the water with them? The last time that they got me to send them any "payment" was in July of last year. If they send me a statement this month, that will push it over 6 mo. Would not they just write it off at 6 mo.? I assume that even if they do, they will attempt to sell it to a collector. Is this the case?

Citi sues lots of times, if you get a letter from an attorney in your "state" then it is a good chance you will get sued, Citi is one of the few that doesnt sell off the accounts right away. It should be "charged off" after 90 days i think, but they still hold on to the account if they think they can collect a judgement on you.

Is not there an issue with the IRS for them if they tried to collect on an account that they already charged off? I think that I heard this at one point. . . I will look into this. Thanks for the help!
