DISH Network wants my money

This past spring of ’06 I cancelled my DISH Network service. DISH sent me a UPS box to return my DVR and remote, which I did.

Seven months later, after I have moved out of state, I get this letter stating that “By this time you must realize that you are delinquent”. They claim I owe them $188.58, for what, I don’t know, only that they have been “authorized” to report the delinquency to the 3 major credit bureaus in 30 days.

They also want my:
Home Phone
New Address
Employer, employer phone
Employer address

Should I get this CA to validate the debt and if so does this mean I’m acknowledging a debt? OR how should I proceed to fill this creditor in that all equipment I was told to return was returned. (I have no receipt from UPS that I sent the equipment back…once I shipped the box UPS I assumed it was a done deal).

Thanks guys, still reading the board and trying to make sense of all this.

...oh and on the back of the letter they ask that I 'dispute' the debt in 30 days.

How do I get the CA to validate the debt without it looking like I'm 'disputing' (or creating controversy) the alledged debt?

You could default them instead w/an affidavit detailing out the dates/times/facts concerning how you upheld your end of the bargain

remember, only facts - nothing else

number each affirmation and have each consist of only one subject/one verb

make your return adress in care of a friend who is your witness - use their address instead
