gotcha! i understand what you are saying.

today i received a notice for a Debt Attorney on behalf of Discover Card...

###############################################
RE DISCOVER CARD ACCT XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX

NOTE: unless you dispute the validity of the debt or any portion thereof within thirty days after receipt of this document, this office will assume this debt to be valid. if you notify this office in writing within the thirty day period that the debt or any portion thereof is disputed, verification of the debt will be obtained and will be mailed to you. up on your written request within thirty days, the name and address of the original creditor, will be provided to you if it is different from the current creditor. we are a debt collector. this communication is an attempt to collect a debt, and any information obtained will be used for that purpose.

dear so and so,

your account with discover is delinquent and has been referred to our office for legal action. the balance owed on your account as of the date of this letter is XXXX. subject to your right to have this obligation verified or to dispute the debt, as provided in the above notice, your failure to pay this obligation may result in a suit being filed against you.

###########################################

so they offer to provide verification. i guess i should take them up on their offer. even though ive already asked the bank, and they just give me garbage!
