Question about Wolpoff & Abramson

Lucky me, I am currently dealing with Wolpoff & Abramson!!!! They filed a claim against me in District Court on behalf of Palisades Collection for a HSBC credit card! They managed to file just before the SOL would have run out!
ANyway, I found out about the claim when I rcvd a letter in the mail from some "debt free...." assoc that offered to help me settle the pending litigation. I went online and found my case on the courts web page.
So far, my court case has been postponed because they were unable to serve me
Now, here's the wierd thing- I immediatley pulled my credit reports- On TransUnion- Wolpoff & Abramson made a "hard inquiry" on 5/14/07. Well, I happened to look at the date of the ONLY letter I ever rcvd from Palisades (which only stated they purchased the account- no balance listed and no mini miranda stated)- the date of the letter is 5/15/07- THE VERY NEXT DAY!!!!
Now, I may be reading a little tooo much into it- but, Palisades bought the account so, why would W&A pull my credit report- do you think maybe they had already planned to take me to court??????
They screwed me big time back in 1998, so i guess they consider me "return prey"
ANy thoughts- I would love to get them on a non-permissible pull and any other violations I can find!

wolpoff may 'own' palisaides? They own many so called debt collector agency's. This is how they skirt around the law that prohibits them from bringing a suit directly(which is suposed to be illeagal, big whopee, like any judges care). Clear out your bank account before they do. I wish you the best of luck fighting these creeps! gldsker has some outstanding posts regarding mounting a counter attack to these devils.
