what happened here?

I'm new to this so I wonder what the heck this means. I sent a 14 pg. vod to discover and this is what I got in response.

Dear pain in the neck bulldozer,

This letter is in response to your request for validation of your discover(r) card debt. Your outstanding balance is $xxxx and is explained in detail by the billing statements that will be sent to you under separate cover. The terms of your account and your agreement to pay are outlined in the cardmember agreement. Please review the discover(r) platinum card cardmember agreement for further information.

Please note that your discover platinum card account has been closed. Further charges to the above referenced discover platinum card account will not be honored. This decision has been made due to the communication we received from you (or your agent) which indicated that you would no longer be able to meet the financial obligations on these account or another discover platinum card account. As a result we ask that all cards be cut in half and returned to us at once.

Please call the telephone number blah, blah, blah to discuss payment arrangements and programs.

Sincerely,

Discover financial services

* This is an attempt to collect a debt and any information obtained may be used for that purpose.

My question is what the heck happened to the promissory note I sent with the vod? And what do i do next?

Did you send a VoD to the "original creditor" citing FDCPA ?

I think it may be high time that I put an appropriate download in the downloads section that addresses original creditors.

there are alot of folks using that VoD template as their first means of recourse when that Vod is meant for debt collectors.

Yep. It seems that people are a bit to anxious and act without gathering all the facts.

yes i think that would be a good idea. i think most newbies (including me) dont realize that the FDCPA only governs collectors, not creditors. also a creditor could be misconstrued as a debt collector when they are trying to collect a debt. i can easily see the confusion, i was confused at first. and jersees vod package looks like its going to an original creditor, not a debt collector (even more confusion).
