Help with insurance and medical staff

Some friends of mine were going to be having surgery. They asked the hospital what would be covered by their insurance. The hospital told them to call their insurance company, they did and the insurance company said they wouldnt know till they knew about the surgery or after it was done.
My friends talked to the hospital and the hospital said they would make a call for them to the insurance company.

Before the surgery they talked to the hospital and asked if they checked with the insurance agency and made sure everything was going to be covered. The hospital said that it was all taken care of and everything was in order and covered.

Now a year after the surgery the hospital is demanding more money for the bill because most of the surgery wasnt covered by the insurance. The hospital is threatening that they will turn them over to collections if my friends dont pay more for the bill per month.

I told my friends that it sounds like the hospital screwed up with the insurance company and are now trying to cover their mistake by trying to pry out more money from my friends.

I told them that the fight is between the Insurance company and the hospital since the hospital told them everything was covered..

My question to you all would be what next. If they are turned over for collections I suggested sueing the hospital for damages. I would like to have something in place before hand that may be able to head this off at the pass.

Any help or suggestions would be helpfull. We live in Wisconsin also.

Thanks ahead of time.
Mark

I believe I would offer her a chance to default on your claim.

Write the lady a letter, stating the facts as you believe them. (just like an affidavit)

tell her that if she does not rebut your affidavit within 10 days, it will stand as evidence and truth in any court of law.

hook her up...
