Musings on Identity Theft
Okay, call me a contrarian, but I refuse to clean up my credit report after I negotiate the minefields of collection agencies. I figure that it's just as well that my credit score is in the toilet; after all, I likely won't become a victim of identity theft. Besides, a good credit record just tells the "extenders of credit" that you're willing to play their evil game. The banks give you credit – they believe in you. How sweet. The problem is I don't believe in them any longer.
"Credit card debt" – what a perfect oxymoron! Think about it. Is it credit; is it debt; credit; debt? My signature creates money (whatever that is these days) out of thin air. How can it be debt? Money appears ex nihilo as soon as I give the banksters my autograph. "Sign on the dotted line – there's no need to read it; lawyers drew it up." Adhesion contract, anyone?
Which brings me to my point (yes, there is a point). Is not the State the most notorious thief of identities? They hijack your given name, create a golem based upon a variation of your name, never introduce you to your fictional twin, and hold you (a living, breathing human being) responsible for anything they can dream up to extract cash from you based upon the fictional actions of your doppelgänger.
Best regards,
EdgarW
