equifax report
Members:
Received detailed report from Equifax (not in response to specific VOD, just a "general" request).
Observation: NO mention of "Notice of Tax Lien."
Information was surprisingly accurate. Interesting was that one c-card I'm "terminating" has, so far, reported nothing negative.
Question: How does one have removed all those old "closed/inactive" accounts?
Thanks, y'all...
Randy

Re:equifax report
RANDY,
BASED ON WHAT I'M&LEARNING AND THE LOGIC OF THE CODE.... IF THE CRA IS GOING TO REPORT AN ALLEGED DEBT, THE DEBT MUST BE VERIFIED.& IF THE VERIFICATION WAS NEVER MADE, IT DOES NOT BELONG ON THE REPORT EVEN IF IT IS NOT A CURRENT ENTRY AND OPEN ACCOUNT.&
THAT'S MY TAKE.& ANYONE ELSE?

Re:equifax report
OOPS!& FORGOT TO MAKE ANOTHER STATEMENT I WAS GOING TO END WITH.....
SO, IF THEY ARE NOT VERIFIED, GO THRU THE SAME PROCESS AS ONE WOULD GO TO REMOVE CURRENT ALLEGED DEBTS....

Howdy, Ricky....
Gotta learn to not post after spending 14 hours ridin' around in a big-truck. Went back through my notes and found what I needed. In fact, I think it's on another post 'round here.

(1) Reinvestigation required
(A) In general

(5) Treatment of inaccurate or unverifiable information

Re:equifax report
SO RANDY,
DOESN'T THAT SUPPORT WHAT I WAS THINKING...& HAVE&CRA ATTEMPT TO VERIFY&THE OLD ONES&AND WHEN THEY CAN'T, HAVE THE CRA REMOVE THEM?
EXCEPT IN OUR SITUATION, WE AREN'T DISPUTING, JUST ASKING FOR THEIR HELP WHICH THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO PROVIDE BY WAY OF CERTIFIED VERIFICATION, RIGHT?
HEY, WHAT DO I KNOW I'M JUST GETTING STARTED ON THIS PATH.& WHERE'S EVERYBODY ELSE ON THIS ONE & &I THINK IT'S A GOOD TOPIC.& JERSEEE, CAN YOU COMMENT?& YOU HAVE A LOT OF EXPERIENCE WITH CRA'S.& ARE WE IN THE RIGHT TRACK?&

Re:equifax report
Ricky,
Your first response to Randy was correct.
The codes tell you basically what you need to do--I merely advise against disputing anything unverifiable. Makes no sense to argue about something unknown.

Re:equifax report
Interesting, I thought, was that of the three, only experian sent NOTHING. As someone else had pointed out elsewhere (I think I saw this), experian offers to do an "investigation" IF you give them "specific" accounts.
Oh, and I did think THIS is very important for everyone to know:
Sec. 1681i. - Procedure in case of disputed accuracy
(2) Prompt notice of dispute to furnisher of information
(A) In general
Before the expiration of the 5-business-day period beginning on the date on which a consumer reporting agency receives notice of a dispute from any consumer in accordance with paragraph (1), the agency shall provide notification of the dispute to any person who provided any item of information in dispute, at the address and in the manner established with the person. The notice shall include all relevant information regarding the dispute that the agency has received from the consumer.
(B) Provision of other information from consumer
The consumer reporting agency shall promptly provide to the person who provided the information in dispute all relevant information regarding the dispute that is received by the agency from the consumer after the period referred to in subparagraph (A) and before the end of the period referred to in paragraph (1)(A).
Moral of story? Choose your words carefully. As usual, "everything you say can and will be used against you...."
