Credit Card

Dear Forum member(s),

Hi. Would someone help me regarding the credit card? I've accepted many credit card offers over the years, some wrote checks for others not, and have not been sent one. Not even letters back. Many letters back saying we would like to reconsider your application but you have not provided an updated copy of credit report. I return these letters back in exchange for the credit card.

I get a lot of congratulations for disney trips to florida, and mortgage calls. Why do I get calls asking for Frank? And hang up calls.

One time a home shopping kind of call about magazines, asking if I was the person who's card ended in ****. I said yes thinking finally the card would come, but it never did, either the magazines.

I have a letter from a company saying, Dear Land owner: and it says while looking through the county records, I noticed you owned property. Raw land is an interesting thing. If you use it and get to enjoy it, it's great! On the other hand, if you don't it can feel like an alligator when you get those tax bills every year (or is it twice a year?) - along with the other county fees and/or property owners associations' charges and let's not forget insurance costs in case someone gets injured on your property when you are not there.

There are definately pros and cons, and if you are using and enjoying your property, then you should probably throw this letter away. On the other hand, if you're tired of throwing your money out the window then we should probably talk. I buy land fast for Cash! I don't play games! We agree on a fair price, a Cash Price. We sign a real simple agreement; and we can usually close in 30 days.

The whole process is ver simple, I am a sincere buyer and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how much I'm willing to pay. I've enclosed a fill-in-the-blanks tear off. Or, if you like you can call me on my toll free number above, and we can discuss a price that might be acceptable to you. Then I will handle absolutely everything and make it a very simple process for you. Again, if you have any questions whatsoever, please don't hesitate to call me on my toll free number above.

Hoping someone can help,

Sincerely,

Ryan

Hi babacar,

Sorry, does the letter have to do with the credit cards? It has a county assessor's parcel number, have you ever heard of that? Is that for the house I'm living in, or the credit card? And if it's for the credit card how much should I sell it for?

And do those telephone calls have something to do with a credit card?

And what about someone calling about a card with the last four numbers. I didn't have it, just said, yeah. Is there a way to find out if I have a card?

Hi,
This is just my two cents, not real money like someone said.
You would be well served to disregard most of the offers coming to you in the form of unsollicited mail or phone call. But whatever you do, don't disclose sensitive personal info over the phone, specially if you did not initiate the communication.
As far as credit cards are concerned, I had 10 in the recent past. Now I have none and don't touch them with a 1000 feet pole. It is one of the worst scams known to man.
I live by this moto: If I cannot afford to pay cash for it, I don't need it yet.
Well, I broke that rule once when I wanted to buy a house and live in suburbia. It costs me dearly: every month when I pay my mortgage, $450 goes to pay for interests, $200 goes towards property taxes and insurrance and only a measly $199 goes towards the principal. What a scam!!!. But I still consider myself blessed because I negotiated a rather low interest rate(4.5%). Now imagine the folks who are paying 6%,7%, 8% or more!
If I had to do it again, I would save and wait till I can buy cash, even if it meant living in a very modest house.
I am trying to get out of that mortgage via elimination. When I succeed I will post in this forum.
Hope this helps.
Babacar

get a copy of your credit report

To find out just what is attributed to you -- send letters to all three CRAs and find out what is on them. Ask for verified validation of all accounts associated with SS# XXXXXXX.

This is a start.

I recently got a call from a company regarding my cc that ends with xxxx -- I said oh really, and where did this information come from? How did you obtain it? Who else have you shared it with and how did you verify this information?
The woman just said, you don't have a card ending with xxxx? I said, I don't know, this is YOUR call -- do I?

She hung up and never called back! LOL
