PRINCIPLES IN BANKING by the American Bankers Association 6th Ed.

This info is straight from the horses mouth!

DEPOSIT FUNCTIONS: pg 54
The deposit function is the traditional banking function of accepting funds for credit to checking, saving, and other types of deposit accounts and, in the case of checks, converting them into usable, available funds. If there were no deposits, there would be no need for payment functions and, because most funding for loans and investments is generated by deposits, banks would have no funds to lend. The deposit function also provides customers with a safe place to keep their coin and currency.

hmmmmm........
Perhaps we should look up those terms FUNDS, and CREDIT??

ABA Books

Hello Dashboy;

I know you posted this last year, but do you how to go about obtaining books that the ABA sell? I've been on their web site and it for banking members only. I would sure like to purchase several of their books. Thanks if you can help.

Clarkee,

sources for books

If you can get someone inside an institution to get books for you, you will have a much broader selection.

nacu.org (need someone inside a credit union as your conduit to get books)

aba.net (need someone inside a bank as your conduit to get books)

www.bankersonline.com (need someone inside a bank as your conduit to get books)

I also have obtained useful (banking) books from european locations, venders and websites.
