online CRA verification

I was just looking into my credit report online and noticed that they have a link to "dispute" with 2 of the 3 CRA's online.

I don't know if this would be useful for demanding verification though, and you wouldn't have the paper trail either.

But, in case you are wondering:

http://www.transunion.com/investigate
http://www.experian.com/rs/fi2.html

And just in case anyone is looking for mailing addresses for them, they are as follows:

Equifax
P.O. Box 740241
Atlanta, GA 30374-0241

Experian
PO Box 9595
Allen, TX 75013

Trans Union
2 Baldwin Place
P.O. Box 2000
Chester, PA 19022

I think you are correct when you say that there would not be a paper trail. I also believe that if you reply online, they only give you the option of disputing or arguing the entry.

Jerseee always strongly advises that we stay out of the argument arena. Continue in honor and stick to the 'verification' of the entry.

I realize that it is 'simpler' to just fill out an online form, but taking the time to compose written correspondence and have 'proof' that you have made the request is more important in the long run.

This is what I have learned thus far in my own process. I've made a few mistakes already ('') but - hey - I've always learned best from making them! And it really is fun! ('')

Re:online CRA verification

Please create a paper trail that you have control over. You are not in control of the content of an online form because it is formed to suit their needs.

For example, on most (if not all) government forms or applications they do not give you an option to say that you are a natural born citizen. It is either US citizen or foreign national or whatever. this is being subjected to their needs and not meeting yours. The same principle applies to online forms as well.
