Hilco Receivables keeps calling

I received a letter regarding a disputed debt from Hilco Receivables of Northbrook Il. I sent them a VOD letter and since then I have received calls from a person located in Florida who says they represent Hilco. Funny thing is that he references the same account numbers as Hilco. However I called Hilco's office in Illinois and they say that person does not work at that office but might work for a "contractor" in Florida. Since Hilco is in receipt of my VOD which specifically states not to call me and I do have a return receipt, what should be my best course of action outside of logging the calls made after the return receipt. The guy in Florida says I should write to him at a Florida address. I told him "no, you write me a letter".

You handled the situation well. It is best not to do any further business over the phone. You may, however, wish to inform the Florida gentleman the next time he calls that notice to agent is notice to principal, and that you have already sent a request for verification of the alleged debt. Federal law requires that they provide the verification, or stop contacting you (including by phone). You can suggest he seek the qualified professional help of legal counsel to interpret what that means for him.

sounds like the beginnings of a §1692 suit. keep copius records of all calls, letters etc..
