Weird thing in my checking account

<FONT face="courier new, courier, mono">I just started signing checks "Without Prejudice, UCC 1-207" a few months ago. A very weird thing on my checking account, and I have never seen anything like it before. </FONT>

I logged into my online statement the other day, I see this on my statement:

09/12/2003 | Check 1234 | -$500.00
09/11/2003 | REVERSE OF TRANSACTION POSTED 09/10/03 | +$500.00
09/10/2003 | Check 1234 | -$500.00

It's like they have multiple ledgers associated with this account, and had posted it on the wrong side the first time. So they had to go back and post it in the correct ledger or something. Think it has something to do with my signature?

Very weird!

On the back of a check written to the local cable co. was an interesting endorsement.

PAYEE WITHOUT PREJUDICE
ABSENCE OF ENDORSEMENT
GUARANTEED BY BANK ONE, NA</FONT>
<P align=left><FONT face=Tahoma>"WITHOUT PREJUDICE", It seems to me I've heard this phrase used before somewhere.</FONT>

Isn't it interesting what you notice after you fill your mind with knowledge?

Re:Weird thing in my checking account

I have our checks pre-printed with "UCC 1-207 without prejudice" just above the signature line.

OT,

Isn't it redundant to have that clause on the check since the microprint "signature" line indicates we're already signing as an agent?

Re:Weird thing in my checking account

What would happen if you drew a black fine line over the AUTHORIZED SIGNATURE on the signature line?

(fine enough to still look normal.)

Re:Weird thing in my checking account

Logos,

If you do not use the code, you are the agent. But if you use the code, you can protect your due process rights and also, the terms of the contract are not disclosed.

HB,

The banks put that there for a reason. One was to hide it from you and second was folks were doing it before so, the banks thought that they would do it for them. How thoughtful of them huh? (I read the second statement somewhere in a book--can't remember the name of it)
