I Asked For A Deletion But Got A Correction Instead!!!!

Hey all. I just got back my Equifax reinvestigation results for an account that has been a thorn in my side for many months now. I disputed this account for having the wrong Actual Payment Amount and I clearly told Equifax in a letter to delete this account at once. It appears that my Equifax file is being handled by some woman in the Office of Consumer Affairs.

I told the woman in writing to delete the account if Equifax determines that the Actual Payment Amount is inaccurate and she corrects the account with the right info. instead! What a jerk!

Now I'm having second thoughts over whether the CRAs must delete when an account contains inaccuracies. Are CRAs required to delete when there are inaccuracies or is this just an option? In other words, can CRAs choose to correct inaccurate info instead of deleting the account? Please advise.

I had a problem years ago, I think it was with TRW. I had a forclosure and I disputed itfor lack of due process. I had to get letters from the VA and the bank, verifying my position, and then it went away.

Yes I sent a letter from my bank's Branch Manager as well as a copy of my bank statement and my cancelled check to serve as proof of payment. The CRA took this information, updated the account, and told me to send the same information to the creditor.

If you want a deletion don't give them evidence the account exists. They don't have to delete because something is inaccurate, they have to maintain accurate files. If you want a BK deleted because the amount is wrong you don't send them the evidence. Make them find it themselves. If they don't get evidence the account gets deleted. If they get evidence it gets updated.
