Certified Verification- "frivolous under Federal Fair Credit Reporting Act
I recently used your Certified Verification form letter and sent it to all the credit agencies with the hope that it would clear up some blemishes on my report.
Instead what I got back from Trans Union is a letter "RE: Dispute status...we are unable to determine the nature of your request. To investigate..list account name,etc.. Unless you provide us this information, your request will be considered frivolous under the federal Fair Credit Repoting Act, and we will be unable to initiate an investigation."
A few days after sending in the Certified Verification letter, I also received a surprise "ADVANCE NOTICE OF REPOSESSION" from my car loan bank. Previously I had been continuing in satisfactory negotiations with them (only 43 days late) and expected things to work out peacefully with me paying off the loan or at least bringing it current. I was not attempting to cancel the car loan via these various freedom remedies, because from what I have read, it is not that easy to do when they have collateral, and the repossession tactic seems to be possession is 9/10th of the law. So they just go out and find the vehicle and take it.
Are others experiencing similar with Certified Verifications?
What are the latest recommendations for dealing with unfavorable credit reports?
What are the latest recommendations for dealing with delinquent car loans?
Thanks

Stanlu;
That's their way to see if you'll go away. Write a second letter thanking them for their nonresponsive letter and reiterating that you want certified validation of all entries on your report. See other threads in this forum regarding this issue --

Hi. I'll upload a Investigation form that I received from TransUnion (TransUnion willinging gave this to me and I didn't ask for it!). Look for it in the Dowloads section by the end of the day.

cute chick,
Remember how the CRAs operate....they want you to argue about it before they do their job.

I agree with Jerseee -- I get one of those "investigation" forms each time they send me anyting -- they want you to state you are disputing - my letters, and yours, don't say that, they say we need certified validation -- that keeps us in honor and puts the burden on them to DO THEIR JOB!!
That seems to be the hardest thing to do; get them to recognize that you are not playing soccer on a baseball field -- you have a bat in hand and are prepared to use it!!!

OK guys - my bad! I think we should give OP a sample VOD that works! I would give him my letter but I just mailed that out on yesterday and I'm waiting to see if it will work.

cute chick,
Remember, these are just recommendations from experience--it is not gospel. If you have a method that has worked for you, by all means use it and share it with us and your success story.
There are many ways to fight but, there is one primary way to win---to think first, then react.
good luck
