Cool Signing a check over to third party

My daughter signed her state check over to me.

She endorsed the back of the check "pay to the order of Katherine Snedigar" she signed her name under that.

The bank refuses to honor the check unless she comes in and puts her thumb print on it.

I feel that she transfered payment of the check to me. So it should be MY thumb print on it. I also feel that I am the one who voluntarily accepts the liability.

I really need some help on getting the bank to honor this.

Any ideas??

The bank policy may be at the front counter only or simply a verbal policy of sort. If it were me, I would simply deposit it into my checking account as opposed to cashing it. Also, I would use a deposit slip at the ATM.

It should work fine however, you should be prepared for a phone call as it is possible.

Wink I think I know how to get it done

I talked to a CPA friend of mine tonight and he said he has signed off of third party checks like I described. He said the bank does it because they knw he can cover it.

Soooooo I am going to deposite my FRN's for 100 dollars over the amount of the check and then just deposite the check in my account and withdraw funds later.

With the new system they have in the bank they know immediately if the check will be covered. The nice people at the front don't know about this stuff so I will deal with the manager.

I usually get my way when presented properly.

Thumb print

It is my understanding that it is bank policy to ask for a thumb print on a check but is not mandatory.
I have refused to give my print and had to request to speak to the bank manager and after questioning her as to weather it was policy to ask for and not mandatory for cashing a check she agreed to it and let me cash it without the print.
Of course she tried to keep it quiet what we were speaking about.
Has anyone else tried this?
Can anyone state a [law or statute] that says that this is not required?
Regards.
Rentiap.

endorsements

There is no law JUST bank policy. All a check needs is a simple endorsement and an account that could cover the amount - PERIOD.
