Repairing One's Credit after CC Debt Elimination

Greetings:
Over the past year I have eliminated/invalidated 3 credit card "debts". The Collection Agencies have stopped calling and all has been quiet for some time.

However, The need for repairing the credit report is now my focus. I do not have the money for using various credit repair groups, some of which have been favorably commented upon here at sui juris. But is is my understanding that one can initiate and repair one's credit report on their own.

If so, could some of you direct me as to how to start the process?

While my brother breifly worked for a mortgage company he ran a credit check and e-mailed me the report. All three of the major reporting agencies show 30-60-90-120-150 late pays. One card showed a 180 day late pay. All of my former cards show "charge off" as well.

I disputed all of these cards and they never responded but I thought that while matters were under dispute, that the banks could not post derrogatories to the card holder's credit report.

anyway.... I imagine Step 1 is to order an actual credit report from each of the three major reporting agencies.

But what then?
What letter(s) do then send in?
Where do I get them?
What will their typical repsonse be?
How should I respond to their replay?

I have tried researching suijuris.net for how to proceed but I found too many gaps in procedure. Has anybody here repaired their own credit after eliminating their CC "debts"?

thank you in advance for your help.

Regards,

Startet

Thumbs up CRA Communication

I have two excellent letters to the CRA's that will take care of that. If you PM me with your e-mail I will send them to you.

The first letter is sort of a request. The second letter is the killer which points out what the law says they can and cannot do. If they refuse to repair or act stupid (get a letter back saying couldn't understand the gibberish) then you can take them to court!
