it said zero

Resurgent Capital Services, LP

Previous creditor: Plains Commerce Bank
Current creditor: Ascent Card Services 11 LLC

This is what it says on page two,

Validation of debt

At the time the account was acquired from PCB, PCB advised that the balance owing was $0.00. Since that time, additional interest, fees, payments, credits and offsets, if applicable, have been allowed, for a current balance of $755.95.

What does that mean? It says it was zero.

If the previous balance was 0, the account had satisfaction.

The current company is attempting to contract you into paying them $755.95. Refuse their contract!

And best within 72 hours. There are several tricks along these lines.

Look how the State of Colorado has obviously balanced this account out. This is not even a bill. It is a statement of Payoff.

Why a Validation of Debt?

What in your opinion, what did you expect to accomplish asking for “Validation of Debt”?

Is the alleged card a Master Card or Visa Card? It makes no difference as they were issued by MBNA and were sold to the Master Card Trust II.

That is the example (it is fact but used as an example)….

You need to find out who holds the debt?

See “collecting on purchased debt” post #19 in the thread “Banks, Collectors, and CRAs”

That post explains what is going on and what needs to be going on.

Refused for Cause in return for closure.
Paid in full and discharged in accordance with public policy.

I am thinking that I could write refused for cause in return for the advised $0.00 balance of PCB, and reactivation of account as it's experation date is 08/06. I would like to still use the card, and not close it.

What do you guys think about that?

Did you use the card?

If not, one of the possibilities is that it has annual fees and you may have not paid the fee, which resulted in what's called "fee pyramiding," where the single late fee creates yet another fee for non-payment or for not making the minimum payment. Then it gets worse as the monthly charges pile up.

Over a fairly short period of time, some of these things can mount up, particularly if it's one of the kinds of cards that has the rip-off interest rate ratchets.

A lot of people have been caught by having a card they don't use and ignoring the monthly bill because they assumed they wouldn't have any charges on it if they didn't use it.

You need to see a copy of the current cardholder agreement - that's the other thing they get away with is changing the rules in the middle of the game by simply sending you the new ones.

You ignore them at your own financial peril.

Hi Judge Roy Bean,

I had been accepting the bills and made payment each time in return for a zero balance. They were probably slow to adjust the account, or ignoring that I had been paying them with credit checks, or discharging debt checks.

Good Luck

You are trying to get in to something knowingly and that is not what I help with.

Be forewarned, You can not stop something you knowingly start and understand what you are doing.

Good luck.

I'm not clear on what you mean by "credit checks" and/or "discharging debt checks?"
