Is Equifax trying to get me to dispute?...
or is this an honest-to-goodness request for information...
Equifax sent a reply to my first VOD letter saying "We received your request concerning your Equifax credit file and are looking forward to asssisting you. The identifying information you provided does not match the information currently on the Equifax Credit File."
THey want a copy of SS card and DL to verify identy and mailing address.
If I respond am I falling prey to a dispute process? I feel like I'm disputing information on my credit report without even knowing what's on there by doing so. I realize that I'm not disputing actual accounts, but does that make a difference?

I RECEIVED THE SAME LETTER FROM EQUIFAX. THIS IS, I BELIEVE, JUST A STALL TACTIC. I REPLIED WITH A MORE THREATENING LETTER. KEEP ASKING FOR CERTIFIED VERIFICATION.

I received the same thing. So did my husband. I think everyone does. I didn't respond to it, just again requested certified verification. If the SSN is correct, just tell them so, and you don't have to send a copy of your driver's license to anyone.

Can they show you a law that mandates you do so? One does not exist. Ask them for that law so you may comply and see what happens...most likely no response. Then you have shown good faith on your part, and at least some form of negligence, if not even bad faith, on theirs. Build your case!

Is Equifax trying to get me to dispute?
All,
Squirrels hit it on the head. This is the crux of my assistance to members. What I am telling you and showing is all in an effort to culminate evidence for you--HONORABLY through law.
The rest is up to you. Only you can go forth and bring them to court. I only open your eyes and lead you to the truth of their corruption through the law and the code. Putting you in a position to slam any attorney or lawyer perpetrating a fraud.
Do your studies, read rules and procedures of court, NEVER ARGUE, use the downloads section (a wealth of information), and go kick some butt!!!
Post your success story and help your fellow man do the same thing you did or just send them here to learn more like you did. We are committed to take back the courts and have the government do what they should be doing--that is protecting our god-given rights--not hunting us down for alleged debts, fictious statutory crimes and ruining our lives economically--when we are the true source of all their wealth.

I cannot begin to even state how thankful myself and my husband are to everyone on this site and their experience and wisdom, and willingness to share.
Squirrels said what went through my mind - but wasnt positive. Where is it in the law? I will not succumb to their requests, but I wll move forward with holding them accountable to the law

I also got the letter, as did my spouse and daughter. Am responding with request for certified verification or removal -- this is the third attempt and I am telling them it will be the last -- the next will be cc'd to the appropriate agencies for investigation. Still looking for that link to the names with the CRA's to give it a personal touch! Also, I think a great link/download would be a cheat sheet/checklist on who to send complaints to for what action -- ie. violations of FDCPA, FCRA, Mail Fraud, etc. Just a suggestion.
