Trans Union is playing hard ball

I just dont get it . I asked Equifax and Experian to verify certain items on my credit report, and they rolled right over and deleted them. I approach Trans Union with the same information and they are playing hard ball. The first three times they gave me the addresses of my creditors to get verification for myself. The third time they say they actually verified the information. So I called and asked the guy( who was rude as hell) based on what information did they establish verification? He says he does not have access to that info, just that the creditor has 30 days to prove or disprove, and I would need to contact them directly to see what they use for verification. My question is , how could I get what ever it is he says they received for verification. Because my assumption is , if I can get what they used for verification, and compare it to what the law says verification is , I am sure there will be a difference. Any comments on how to proceed , or is this even the right direction?

Boxter;

They are not playing hardball. You are misinterpreting -- they are BEING LAZY. They probably have not received any verification beyond the CIS info the CC have on file and they are not pushing any farther. SO>>> Give them another, more forceful push!! Write another letter; inform them they have so fare been non-responsive to your requests;cite codes and tell them they will be held accountable for failure to abide by said code! Give them a time limit and then be ready with your info to file a complaint. I am in the same place with TU regarding my spouse and my children. They did Fabulous on my report initially, but have done nothing for any other family member. And, when I requested the nature of the process used and a certified copy of the verification received for the remaining accounts, they just sent me the "these accounts have been ferified" letter. So I followed up and said, "Hold it partner, I ain't that accomodating. SHOW ME! NOW!" The latest letter said, "We don't understand your request." YEah, right! They will understand a complaint for failure to comply, I think.

My main problem has been with the other two. It took forever for them to respond at all, and they did nothing but send a copy of the current, (and very inaccurate) Report. It is obvious it has not been updated for quite some time. How long can old accounts remain? Seven years max, right? I'm talking inactive, closed by the consumer accounts.

Keep beating on the door. Someone has to answer soon! Or you bring in the battering ram!

Boxter,

Seeker has the right approach but allow them time to dishonor your demand. It is their rope, they can either jump rope when you say jump or they can hang themselves. Either way, you have to give them time. I'd say 90 days is enough, after that start looking towards a complaint in small claims court.

ALso, you have proof from Equifax and Experian that the alleged debt is unverifiable. DO not mention this to Trans Union as they are all suppose to be reporting the same info. You have evidence against them.

Practice patience, grace, and honor. Remember--never argue. You will come out on top in the end.

Jerseee;

How does one go about using one CRA against the other? My TU report is cleaned up pretty well, but the other two aren't even responding. What should my next step be?

Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. We are learning!!

Seeker,

If you have just one of them deleting information that is enough to expose the other.

If you and I are in the same business and we both get our information from the same source--we should have the same information. If we are demanded to verify a source of information and find it unverifiable and I do not delete unverified information and you do--then there is a problem.

THe person demanding the verification may have a claim against me because how can one company verify the info and the other can't?

So keep your information and keep demanding certified verification from the other CRA and when you have enough of the CRAs non-compliance you can file a claim against them and you have evidence of your claim.

I am curious to know that as well Jersee, how can I use the two other CRA's deleting unverifiable info against Trans Union?

I have had some success getting things removed off my credit reports. Is it possible to remove inquiries as well?
