Direct Loan Program - William Ford

Hello All-

I have one question for anyone that has an answer. I have a student loan through The US Department of Education (Direct Loans - William Ford). Does anyone know who is the head guy in charge? I have a letter to send to get it charged off and need to address it to a certain individual.

Thanks

To be honest, I don't know who the head guy is. BUT, it might be listed as a creditor on your credit file. Go to annualcreditreport.com and pull all three of your major credit files (for FREE!)... At the end is a list of all your creditors and their addresses. However, I don't know if NDSL reports to the credit reporting agencies or not...

Thank you Siren! I will look for that. I only ask because I'm sending them a Letter Rogatory and would like to address it to someone specific. Does this make sense?

Okay. Maybe someone could please ADVISE. The lender for my student loan is the U.S. Department of Education in D.C., but I send my payments into a Direct Loan Servicing Center in Greenville, TX for processing. Wouldn't the Secretary of Education (Spellings) be the final authority for discharging a loan? Or should I try and find the regional director of MY Direct Loan Servicing Center in Texas and mail the letters to him. It seems to me that if they are going to honor what I send to them, it should be sent to where I send my payments. I would appreciate any opinions on this matter.

I'm thinking of addressing the Letter Rogatory to the the COO of Federal Student Aid, which oversees the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program.
