Who is watching who?

Who is watching who? Is it 1984? Surveillance tactics, privacy issues, etc.

Above is the title and subtitles of this particular topic forum as it appears in the on the Forums Page, right under the Success Stories topic forum under General Discussion.

I had never noticed before that online members could track, precisely, what other members who are online are doing!!

On the Home Page, to the right, and at the top is a listing of who is on line, and one can click any of the names and a "View Profile" of that member opens and shows pretty specifically what activity that person is engaging in at that moment.

For instance, it will show, by name, what thread you are viewing, and what thread, by name, you are replying to, if you are replying.

It will show if you are viewing someone's Profile, "Private Messaging," or Starting a Thread, and in what Forum, and so on, and so forth...

Has this feature always been here?

Why is it here?

I would definitely like this feature disabled from my handle.

May I have my doings on suijuris forums un-monitorable, especially by other members please?

It seems a little of an infringement on my privacy here.

I do not want any other member to be able to click on my handle on the list of who is online in that section of the Home Page and have my Profile show enabling any member to TRACK me, and what I am currently doing.

Whose business is it whether I am sending a Personal Message, replying to a specific topic, viewing a Profile, finding all posts of a particular member, starting a thread in a specific forum etc.?

I do not want to be tracked.

Cyber stalking!!??

I neither want, nor need to "SEE" what any other member is specifically "doing" while online, and do not at all relish the fact that my activities can be monitored by all other members who are online.

Has it always been this way?

If so, why?

If not, when did this start, who started it, and why?

I do not like it one bit!!!

It does not seem right.

Can my PM's be monitored?

If so, by whom?

If so why?

If so, have my PM's been being monitored?

This is not a good thing.

You can go to your user pannel and select yourself as "hidden."

Yes it has always been this way.

You can also select there name and see the last activity that the person did.

Why are you so upset over people knowing what you read?

Why would I want to "hide."

What about the other questions?

I do think my post explained your question pretty clearly.

It is a matter of principle.

And it is not a just a matter of people knowing what I read.

Its like that on almost all forums (Even the other one you like to go to.)

It is the norm.

Which "other one?"

And what business is it of yours what forums I "like to go to?"

And what is the point of that comment?

Why would you need to make such a comment?

So, exactly and precisely WHICH "OTHER ONE" are you referring to?

And why?

Whats the point?

I looked at six sites (other than this one) that I post on, and only one other has this.

It means that if you look at someones profile it shows the last activity that the person did and their last log in.

I cannot find the hide option anymore either,,, ask Wies, he has it enabled.
