US Senate Pulls Plug on Open Borders for Mexican Trucks!
Senate votes to kill Mexican truck demo
Bush 'Open Borders' agenda dealt serious bipartisan blow
September 11, 2007

The U.S. Senate has dealt a likely death blow to the Bush administration plans to give Mexican long-haul trucking rigs free access to United States roads and highways.
A bipartisan majority voted 74-24 tonight to pass an amendment offered by Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., to remove funding from the Fiscal Year 2008 Department of Transportation appropriations bill for the Department of Transportation Mexican trucking demonstration project.

From Congressman Ron Paul:
Quote:
Free trade is not complicated, yet NAFTA and CAFTA are comprised of thousands of pages of complicated legal jargon.
All free trade really needs is two words: Low tariffs.
Free trade does not require coordination with another government to benefit citizens here.
Just like domestic businesses don't pay taxes, foreign businesses do not pay tariffs – consumers do, in the form of higher prices.
If foreign governments want to hurt their own citizens with protectionist tariffs, let them.
But let us set a good example here, and show the world an honest example of true free trade.
And let us stop hurting American workers with mountains of red tape in the name of safety.
Safety standards should be set privately, by the industry and by the insurance companies who have the correct motivating factors to do so.
Free trade is not the problem, and pseudo free trade is what is being offered in the wrongly named North American Free Trade Agreement and all its offshoots.
The problem is a government-managed economy and the burdensome regulation that results.
For our economy to remain competitive in the world, we must remember what it is to be truly free.
We must lift the regulatory shackles threatening to sink our industries into oblivion.
Free trade begins with freedom domestically, and we can't afford to lose that.

The correct motivating factors to do so, the reason they would get set privatly without statutes is... it will limit lawsuits.
Originizations that fail to be safe will be bankrupt and ceace to be operational.
Much Love,
Christopher Theodore: Rhodes

I say to hell with the so-called "free trade" nafta crap! There is NO SUCH THING. While I agree with allot of what Ron Paul promotes, in reality his platform would be nafta on steriods if followed to its logical conclusion. I have witnessed first hand the absolute and on-going economic destruction of the region where I reside. For example; even the cities around here have gotten ILLEGAL EMPLOYERS who hire 'undocumented' workers to mow the lawns at city hall and elsewhere. There ain't a green card to found on any of them(because they can't make a living in their own country due to their crooks who are running their countries) so they are here doing the work that Union guys(I am not a member of any union and never have been) used to do. Its all about the greedy chumps obtaining their, "I got mine" at the expense of the what used to be the so-called american dream. I saw that satanist reagan really kick start the dismantling of this country along with bush and clinton and the current 'occupant' following in lockstep. No infrastructure has been left alone by these weasels. All have sustained damage that may irreversible at this point? Its interesting that only now is some resistance starting to pop up now that the truckers are in danger. Where was everyone when the manufacturing base was being destroyed and shipped, first to mexico and then on to china? Or the india guys taking over the call center/cutomer service/engineering jobs?
And by the way our so-called free trade 'partners' in china charge the american auto companys a 22% Tarriff to ship a car into that country while we charge them virtually nothing to import their garbage here!!!!!!!! They now own us by virtue of the war debt/trade deficiet that we have incurred, so who ya gonna call?
