The Transmissability of Chess as a Discipline/Metaphor
Nice. It is interesting to note the relative weakness of the king vs. say the feminine queen. The queen may move squarely like the rook, or obliquely like the bishop. The knights ambit (look it up) is kind of weird, "jumps" over pieces. Pawn can only capture obliquely; can metamophosize into the queen if its lucky. The queen replaced "the counsellor" in the middle ages, which was just as weak as the king.
I have worked for some of the king-makers...give them a lot of respect.
