While preventing and deterring sexual exploitation of children has always been a priority for Canadian law enforcement, predators who hide in cyberspace have added new dimensions to the challenge. In response, the RCMP joined the Toronto Police Service and Microsoft Canada to develop and host the Child Exploitation Tracking System (CETS). Using sophisticated tools to obtain, analyze and share information gleaned from high volumes of Internet traffic, officers have a better chance of rescuing victims and apprehending offenders. Even in its first few months of limited operation, CETS has been instrumental in several offenders being charged.
