Concealed Weapons Permit
Not sure if this is the right area for this, but it seemed to be the best, so feel free to remove if needed.
I currently have a concealed weapons permit from the state of Georgia and I carry a pistol pretty much all the time. I have only been asked once for my permit by a LEO in 11 years of having this permit and carrying a gun.
It doesnt seem to me that you would have a right to conceal a weapon, even though you do have a right to own a weapon, say for self defense or defense of your home, hunting, etc.
Does anyone have experience carrying a concealed weapon without a permit in some manner. If caught, it is supposedly a very serious offense, though I havent tried it yet, bc I have a current permit. I contacted the county Sherriff and of course they say permit or nothing. Doing some research in the codes now, just wondering about real life experiences.
thanks

I got arrested for carring a concealed loaded semi-automatic .45 cal pistol. I won though with evidence supression.

should've known you would chime in
would prefer not to get arrested and then fight it in court, dont like cops, judges or jail time...

Many here will disagree, but it is all about your status
If you haven't formally challenged/rebutted the presumption of U.S. Citizenship and proven your standing as a dejure state national with a papertrail to prove it, then you are required to have the CWP
Not sure how this would work in a class 3 suppression deal, though

This is something that I am working on slowly, but I am not sure of all the steps to remove myself from the system so to speak, docs to use or file, etc. SO right now things are moving slowly. Thanks for the info.

Got one for ya!!!
In philly you need a gun permit for a concealed weapon and a shotgun/rifle. They seem to have their own laws for that. The reason I know this is because I spent 4days in the county jail for popping off a 12gauge during a huge rumble with one of my family members . Now it was four against one, give me a break !!!That's when I was told that I needed a permit to carry, didn't have ha !!!! By the way, it was a warning shot. I did not intend to hurt anyone.

Best starting point is to read the free articles at pacinlaw.org
then buy LB's book, The Red Amendment.
Get the understanding going first

UPDATE:
Went to the Probate court today to get some info about renewing my permit since some things have changed in the last few months. There are some good things and some bad things:
The good is that thanks to a few people who think a bit like some of us, the new application does not require a SSN or employment information. This results from a law suit filed against the county where I live and its basis was the Privacy Act. That will soon be spread across georgia in all counties, change the applications, etc.
The bad news is that they 'require' two pieces of ID with a county address on it or a DL with a county address on it. I dont have any of those and was told that bc they couldnt verify that i lived in that county, I couldnt get a permit or renew my old one.
So it seems that I have two options:
Let the permit expire and dont worry about it for now or to force the county somehow to issue me a permit based on an Affidavit or something of the sort that I live in that county and am not required to have a voter reg card or utilities in my name, etc within that county.
Any ideas or comments are appreciated.
Thom
