More critical reading

The following excerpt from the Constitution has a few (more than one) critical reading tasks. However, I will not point them out. There may not be a need to point them out since the truth is right there. But I will answer any questions if one cannot see the clarity of this.

"Amendment XIV
Section 4.
The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppression or rebellion, shall not be questioned. But neither the United States nor any state shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void."

There are a couple of things going on in that section. Hint: Look what forum I posted this topic under.

Re:More critical reading

Jerseee,

It says, "neither the Unites States nor any state".& Wouldn't that mean that if the United States included all 50 states there would be no need to add, "nor any state"?

I can't believe that it took me so long to get this.& I honestly think that our thoughts are so conditioned to think the way the government wants us to think, that even the most obvious things don't jump out.

I will keep thinking about this and add more later.

Re:More critical reading

Good Montana,

You got part of that sentence right! But finish reading and understanding that particular sentence and you will clearly see that there is more to solidify what you have discovered.

But that is just one sentence. Just Imagine, the what the whole thing is saying.
