RESIDENT, persons. A person coming into a place with intention to establish his domicil or permanent residence, and who in consequence actually remains there. Time is not so essential as the intent, executed by making or beginning an actual establishment, though it be abandoned in a longer, or shorter period. See 6 Hall's Law Journ. 68; 3 Hagg. Eccl. R. 373; 20 John. 211 2 Pet. Ad. R. 450; 2 Scamm. R. 377.

What exactly is the difference between the common understanding of the word "resident" and it's "true" meaning?

Gnosticism perhaps?

Re: Resident

Good Day Mr. Incredible,

BLD 6th defines a resident as "Any PERSON who occupies a dwelling WITHIN THE STATE,..." and goes on to say "one who RESIDES or ABIDES". [All caps emphasis mine].

The 14th amendment Section 1 reads as follows:

All PERSONS born or naturalized in the United States, AND subject to the jurisdiction thereof, ARE citizens of the United States and of the STATE wherein they RESIDE. [Again, all caps emphasis mine].

Francis Lieber wrote the Lieber Code, originally promulgated as General Orders No. 100 by Abraham Lincoln on April 24th, 1863.

Francis Lieber defined "person" or "persona" as "the mask of the actor which covers his whole head".

As for that that I AM, I wear no such mask, and I certainly do not RESIDE OR ABIDE IN ANY STATE.

And for further reference, you may want to check out what Marc Stevens has to say about dealing with those IN THIS STATE.

I hope this was of some help.

Sincerely,
truth

I believe RESIDENT comes from the latin words RES and IDENT.

res rei f. [a thing , object, matter, affair, circumstance]; 'natura rerum', [the world, the universe, nature]; 'pro re', [according to circumstance]; esp. [the real thing, fact, truth, reality]; 're vera', [in truth]; [possessions, property, wealth; interest, advantage, benefit]; 'in rem', [to one's advantage]; [cause, ground, reason]; 'qua re, quam ob rem', [wherefore]; [a matter of business; a law suit, action]; 'res publica' or 'respublica', [the republic, state, commonwealth]; 'e republica', [in the public interest].

ident i think means identified in latin, but the dictionaries I've found dont translate anything to the english word identify or identified.

Basically I see resident as "thing identified" or "business identified". I dont want to be "identified" by any part of government, and that alone means I avoid the word.
